Ann's Comments: (1993) "At first I thought it would be easy to make a quilt that had no restrictions and that was guaranteed to be accepted. Well, I did settle on using red and green, but got carried away designing in every possible combination and contrast of every possible red and green fabric. Eventually I got this urge somewhat under control, but it wasn't easy.

The green wedge-shaped pieces were originally supposed to be sewn together into a square, but I happened to pin them up with space in between and they looked pretty good that way.

People have seen different things in this quilt the Oakland fire, the Loma Prieta earthquake, e.g. but I made it as an abstract design."
